How do I keep the item from moving inside the crate?

Secure the item to the base whenever possible using straps, bolts, braces, or custom wood blocking. Then fill open spaces with suitable protective materials, such as foam, padding, or corrugated material.

Do not rely only on loose packing material for a heavy item. The goal is to prevent movement in every direction during loading, transit, and unloading.
